GENERAL DATO’ SRI HJ AFFENDI BIN BUANG RMAF
Gen Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi bin Buang RMAF was born in 1962. He was commissioned into the Royal Malaysian Air Force in 1981. Upon completion of his flying training in 1983, he progressed into operational flying duties as a fighter pilot flying aircraft such as the MB 339A, A4PTM, Skyhawk and MiG29N Fulcrum. He was actively involved in the fight against the communist insurgency during the Malaysian Emergency period flying Close Air Support missions in support of army operations.
He has attended numerous courses both in Malaysia and abroad such as Strategic Studies at the Australian College of Defence and Strategic Studies, and at the Royal College of Defence Studies in London. Among the notable appointments he has held are as Instructor Pilot and Squadron Commander, Base Commander of Butterworth Airbase, Director of Plan and Contingency in the Malaysian Joint Forces HQ, Director General of Operations and Exercises in the RMAF Air Operations HQ, Joint Forces Commander, Air Operations Commander and Deputy Chief of Air Force. His current appointment as the Chief of Air Force.
Gen Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi bin Buang RMAF is married to The Honorable Tengku Puteri Seri Teja Pahang Hajjah Tengku Muhaini binti Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah.
